Cheapest Spoon Fed: How Eight Cooks Saved My Life

Thank you, Kim Severson, for your engaging memoir, Spoon Fed. This is a touching and honest compilation of essays involving eight cooks and mentors who helped the author overcome some of the most difficult challenges of her life. Severson is a much braver individual than she supposes herself to be. I enjoyed getting to know some of my food heros better, including Ruth Reichl and Alice Waters.
Ms. Severson is correct in that many of her readers would be disappointed in the religious themes of the book. Surely she is aware that much of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina was due to the gradual removal of the mangrove swamps (the swamps provided natural barriers during previous hurricanes). Those that profited from the reckless real estate development of the area left New Orleans vulnerable. The devastation was not because of god's wrath against the people of New Orleans.
However, aside from the above, there is much to admire in the author's writing. I look forward to reading more books by Ms. Severson.Get more detail about Spoon Fed: How Eight Cooks Saved My Life.
